Dave and Karen purchased the 1954 Studebaker Starlight Coupe in 1996. The previous owner was a drag
racer, so the work began! The Stude was disassembled in 1997 and repainted Candy Apple Red from the Chrysler paint line.
Custom interior was put in which included 8 way power Rivera front seats, Vintage Air, tilt/telescoping steering column with
leather wrapped steering wheel. Dave also built a custom console and below dash vanity panel which conceals the AC evaporator
and the AC vents. He installed AutoMeter gauges and added tachometer and a Chrysler Infinity Stereo system. Dodge Intrepid
outside door handles, Chevy door latches, Chrysler K-car inside handles were customn fit into the Stude. The wing vent glass
was removed and Dynasty electric mirrors were added. The battery was moved to the new carpeted trunk compartment. To
get the ol' Stude rolling in style Dave added American Racing wheels with spinners.

Power windows, locks and remote entry were added to the interior as well as shoulder harnesses front
and rear and a Dynasty overhead console. Other changes to the Starlight Coupe includes
a Quick Silver shifter to handle the 700R4 automatic, Mustang II front suspension; power rack and pinion steering and front
disc brakes.
The GM 350 V8 was built with hypereutectic pistons, mild cam, roller rockers, polished Offenhauser
intake manifold and block hugger headers. To cool the 350 Dave added a Rodney Red custom aluminum radiator with an electric
cooling fan.
The 1954 Studebaker Starlight Coupe has won many awards including Top Ten OKC Darryl Starbird
Show 1999, Studebaker International First Place Trophies in South Bend 2002, Charlotte, NC 2004 and Omaha 2006 and many local
car show trophies over the years.

built by a member of the 'Cimarron Starlite Cruisers Car Club.'
