The Cimarron Starlite Cruisers' Car Club proudly feature, great
classic vehicles, which belong to the good folks of Oklahoma.
The September 2009 Great
Oklahoma Classic belongs to Earl and Barbara Brothers of Oklahoma City. Earl, Barbara and friend Kyle Hiks have built
a real classic 1923 T-Bucket that is second to none. I first saw this great T-Bucket at the Bristow Car Show on September
5 and when I came upon it again at the Guthrie Road Celebration on September 12, I ask Earl if we could feature his T-Bucket as a
Great Oklahoma Classic.
Earl bought the T-Bucket
four years ago and made the decision to go for a total rebuild. Earl, Barbara and
friend Kyle Hiks spent two full years to finish this classic.
Earl and Kyle hand built
a 300-horsepower Chevrolet 350 and coupled it to a Turbo 350 transmission. As
you can see nothing was left to chance on this engine set up. Earl likes the look of chrome and it shows with the high quality
chrome plating that is everywhere on this T-Bucket. The Chrome Plating was done by Peerless Chrome. The Chevy 350 only has
800 miles since completion.
Quality chrome plating everywhere!
The leather interior,
the leather top and leather tonneau cover on this T-Bucket is truly high quality workmanship.
The detail of the leatherwork is really something to see. The interior
upholstery and top were done by Earl’s friend Kyle Hiks of Interior Werks in Oklahoma City. Kyle is a leather craftsman
extraordinar and hand tooled all the great leatherwork. The Rat Fink theme can
be found through out this tremendous leatherwork.
High quality leather craftsmanship by Kyle Hiks.
As you can see in this mirrow photo, Earl paid attention to every detail. The under side of the T-Bucket is every
bit as good and finished to perfection as the top side.
The bodywork, five
coats of metallic green and twenty-five coats of clear were done by the Paintworks of Oklahoma City.
Kyle Hiks' quality leather
work is one reason this Great Oklahoma Classic was selected as the Pro’s Pick Award out of 2067 Street Rods at the 2009 Southwest Street Rod Nationals held in Oklahoma City this
past April.
Earl selected Mickey
Thompson chrome wheels and Mickey Thompson tires which gives the T-Bucket a nice classic street rod stance.
The Cimarron Starlite
Cruisers sincerely appreciate Earl and Barbara Brothers for sharing their classic 1923 T-Bucket as the Great Oklahoma
Classic for September 2009.
Let us know what you think of Earl and Barbara's T-Bucket.
